Roles
In our family of origin many times, it seems, we have roles that we fall into - sometimes consciously, sometimes not. We may be known as the smart one, the handsome one, the athletic one. Yet there are other roles that may not be as well known and many times we do not become aware of them until years later. As adults, we may have an overwhelming sense of guilt, anger, shame, sadness and not have an understanding of where this emotion is coming from. Perhaps one of our roles in our family was to be an emotion carrier. If you suspect this may apply to you, please find someone skilled in helping you work through these feelings so you can put this burden down and get along with letting your inner light shine.
Do you feel sad,
Or mad,
Rarely glad?
Or, is guilt your thang,
Maybe even shame,
Were you always to blame?
Did you know
In your soul
This was a role?
Carrying others
Unexpressed emotions smothers,
And covers,
Our light.
Once we’re aware,
And start to share
Our pain,
Our inner light
No longer hides in
Clouds and rain.
