Letting Those You Love Struggle
Do you let those you love struggle? I know it’s hard isn’t it? My husband made the choice not to pick his children up every time they fell when they were learning to walk. Why? Because he did not want to be picking them up when they were forty and they did not know how to get up on their own because they were never allowed to fall or fail. We do ourselves and others a disservice when we believe life is all fun and light and sunshine and good days. It is all this, and, it is struggle and pain and heartache and growth too …..
I see the juggle
I feel the struggle.
Which choice do I make?
Do I step in and take
The lesson away?
Or develop a knack
For stepping back,
Letting the chips fall
Watching others crawl
Their way out?
The indecision,
The lack of precision,
The mistakes,
Aren’t really that at all
They just fall
On that spectrum of growth.
They are both
Harsh and painful
But not ever wasteful
If we are willing to see
The opportunity
Each choice creates …..
Our future awaits.
