Silent Witness

We all have a physical and non-physical shadow. Our physical shadow is present with us every sunny day and our non-physical shadow is present no matter the weather or the time of day. Both shadows however can only be seen with the presence of their opposites - light for the physical shadow and inner illumination and curiosity for our non-physical shadow. Both shadows can grow and shrink - one with the time of day and one with our willingness to not only probe and question our patterns and beliefs but be open to changing and expanding them as well. I am grateful for both of my shadows - one for reminding me of the passing days and the other for reminding me where my growth opportunities reside.

You are with me for all days,
Even when I can’t see you,
Through the haze.
You’ve seen it all
By suns bright rays
And never judged,
Or shouted hooray.
Running alongside me
